Former Flyer John LeClair is joining the club's front office to serve as a special advisor to hockey operations.

Two days after adding Patrick Sharp to the front office, the Flyers have given another former player a role within the organization.

Thursday morning, the Flyers announced the hiring of franchise great John LeClair, who will work alongside Sharp as a special advisor to hockey operations.

"Adding in John LeClair to work in conjunction with Patrick Sharp and the rest of our hockey operations group will be a powerful combination with their vast hockey knowledge and a 'team-first' mentality," Flyers president of hockey operations Keith Jones said in a statement released by the team.

"John has been around the NHL and the game for a long time and knows what it takes to bring the core ethics of our foundation to the Philadelphia Flyers."

In his 16-year playing career, LeClair, 53, spent 10 seasons with the Flyers from 1995 to 2005. As one third of the "Legion of Doom" line with Eric Lindros and Mikael Renberg, LeClair was a critical piece for the Flyers during their run to the Stanley Cup Final in 1997.

In 649 games as a Flyer, LeClair logged 333 goals — good for fifth-most in franchise history — and 643 total points. He was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009 and the Flyers Hall of Fame in 2014.

LeClair has stayed busy within the hockey realm lately. In 2022, he joined 3ICE, an independent 3-on-3 professional ice hockey league, as a coach. He will continue coaching Team LeClair for 3ICE throughout the summer.

"We have another great addition to our hockey operations team in John LeClair," said Flyers general manager Danny Briere. "John's hockey resume speaks for itself. His passion for the city of Philadelphia along with his strong leadership skills will be a key component to building our team back into its winning ways."
