John Tortorella spoke to media today about the decision to cancel Monday's practice.
The Philadelphia Flyers are now third in the Metropolitan Division. The Carolina Hurricanes won last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets to pull one point ahead of the Flyers.
John Tortorella.Last week was a busy one for the Flyers who played four times - twice in Philadelphia and twice in New York.
It's at least a two hour bus ride from Wells Fargo Center to UBS Arena. Oddly enough, their two games against the New York Islanders were both home games for the Islanders. So the team - at minimum - spent eight to 12 hours on bus rides back and forth.
Samuel Ersson.Because of the volume of traveling plus how busy they have been with four games John Tortorella decided to cancel practice today.
Not only was last week busy but this week doesn't get easier. Two more scheduled practices in addition to four games.
With all of those factors in mind, this feels like a smart move from the veteran coach.
The next Flyers game is on Tuesday at home against the Hurricanes. Game starts at 7:30PM Eastern Standard Time.
