This Philadelphia Flyers defenseman is being viewed as a top trade candidate in 2024-25.

In a recent article for The Athletic, NHL insider Chris Johnston discussed 10 potential trade candidates for the 2024-25 season. A Philadelphia Flyers defenseman made the cut, as Rasmus Ristolainen secured the No. 8 spot on Johnston's list.
Seeing Ristolainen creating some chatter as a possible trade candidate is not surprising. The right-shot defenseman generated buzz in the rumor mill this past season, with teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks previously being linked to him.
Ristolainen could generate interest again, as he is a hard-hitting right-shot defenseman with plenty of experience. Thus, he could be a nice addition to a team looking for more bite on the right side of their defense.

Ristolainen would be more than a rental for any potential suitor, as he carries a $5.1 million cap hit until the end of the 2026-27 season. Because of this, Johnston mentioned that the Flyers would potentially need to retain some of Ristolainen's salary in a possible deal.
We will need to wait and see what the Flyers decide to do with Ristolainen from here.
