Kyle Ross-USA TODAY Sports - Flyers Star Is Big Bounce-Back Candidate

The Philadelphia Flyers will start training camp tomorrow (Sept. 19). With this, hockey season is officially back, and the rebuilding Flyers will now look to build on last season's solid 2023-24 campaign.

One Flyer who is a clear player to watch during this upcoming season is captain Sean Couturier. The 2023-24 season was challenging for the veteran center, but he undoubtedly has the potential to turn things around.

Couturier, 31, appeared in 74 games last season with the Flyers, where he had 11 goals and 38 points. While this kind of offense was not necessarily bad for Couturier, it was low for his standards when comparing his previous seasons. In addition, he was healthy scratched twice in March, so it was just not the best year for the 6-foot-4 center.

Yet, when looking at Couturier's outstanding resume, it is hard to fully bet against him turning things around. He also naturally had some rust to shake off last season, as he missed the entirety of the 2022-23 season due to back surgery. Now, after getting a break from game action, it will be fascinating to see if the rest helps out the former Selke Trophy winner.

Nevertheless, Couturier is easily one of the NHL's top bounce-back candidates heading into next season. Time will tell if he does, in fact, get his offense back up from here.
