This Flyers forward is continuing to be linked to the Maple Leafs.

As Denver Barkey heads back to the London Knights after spending the last couple of months watching the Philadelphia Flyers' training camp from the sidelines, he reflects on his recovery from illness and coming back a stronger player than before.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton is one of the top trade candidates in the NHL right now. It is understandable, as he is a hard-nosed two-way forward with an affordable $3 million cap hit until the end of the 2025-26 season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs is one club that has been connected to Laughton for quite some time, and NHL insider Darren Dreger continued that trend on the latest episode of TSN Insider Trading

Dreger named Laughton as one of six centers the Maple Leafs could target as we continue to get closer to the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline.

Scott Laughton Scott Laughton

Laughton has been targeted by the Maple Leafs in the past, so it would not be surprising if they made a push for him closer to the deadline. He would help their third-line center issue immensely, as he chips in offensively, is strong defensively, and provides sandpaper.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Laughton this season. The Maple Leafs will not be the only team to watch in the sweepstakes, as he would be a great player for any contender to add.
