The Flyers star has been fined by NHL Player Safety.

NHL Player Safety has fined Philadelphia Flyers star rookie Matvei Michkov $2,473.96, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for high-sticking Los Angeles Kings forward Quinton Byfield on Sunday (Dec. 29).

After a brief scrum with Byfield, Michkov swung his stick toward the Kings power forward, which hit him in the head. Michkov received a two-minute minor for high-sticking on the play.

This is the first time in Michkov's career that he received a fine from NHL Player Safety.

In 35 games this season, Michkov leads all rookies with 12 goals and 29 points.
