As Denver Barkey heads back to the London Knights after spending the last couple of months watching the Philadelphia Flyers' training camp from the sidelines, he reflects on his recovery from illness and coming back a stronger player than before.

Former Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Mark Friedman has been placed on waivers by the Vancouver Canucks.

Friedman, 28, appeared in 23 games last season with the Canucks, posting one assist, 33 hits, 35 blocks, and a plus-4 rating. He also played four games down in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Abbotsford Canucks, recording one goal, three assists, and a plus-5 rating.

Friedman was selected by the Flyers as the 86th overall pick of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. In 11 games over three seasons with the Flyers, he had one assist, six penalty minutes, and 14 hits.

It will be interesting to see if a team claims Friedman from here. He could be a decent player for a club looking to add more depth to their blueline.
