NHL Player Safety has announced that former Philadelphia Flyers forward Ryan Hartman has been suspended 10 games for roughing Ottawa Senators star Tim Stutzle. In addition, he will pay $487,804.90 to the Players' Assistance Fund.

The play occurred during the second period of the Minnesota Wild's Feb. 1 contest against the Senators. While taking a faceoff, Hartman slammed Stutzle's head onto the ice. For this, Hartman received a match penalty.

In the video, NHL Player Safety said this on the matter:

"It's important to note that this is not a hockey play. Hartman contends that he is attempting to use his hand to regain his balance using Stutzle for support and that their fall to the ice is accidental. We disagree."

Hartman is considered a repeat offender and has now been suspended five times in his career.

In 19 games as a Flyer during the 2018-19 season, he had two goals, six points, and 30 penalty minutes.
