This former Philadelphia Flyers star is playing incredible hockey.

As Denver Barkey heads back to the London Knights after spending the last couple of months watching the Philadelphia Flyers' training camp from the sidelines, he reflects on his recovery from illness and coming back a stronger player than before.

The Ottawa Senators are having a solid start to the season, as they sport a 5-4-0 record. A big reason for their early-season success has been the play of former Philadelphia Flyers star Claude Giroux.

Giroux, 36, has had an awesome start to the season, and the truth can be seen with his stats. In nine games thus far, the 2006 first-round pick has five goals and 11 points. With this, he is demonstrating that he can still produce like a legitimate NHL star this deep into his career.

Giroux is not showing any signs of slowing down, as he is currently on a seven-game point streak. In addition, he has had two points in each of his last three games, so the 5-foot-11 forward is clearly on fire.

It will now be fascinating to see how the former Flyer builds off his outstanding start to the season. If he continues to produce so well offensively, he could give the Senators the push they need to finally get back into the playoffs.
