Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Jamie Drysdale recently received surgery for an unspecified injury and is expected to be ready to fully participate in the Flyers' preseason training camp.

Flyers GM Danny Briere said back in April that there was a possibility that Drysdale would require surgery on his core area in the offseason.

Speaking at the NHL Combine in Buffalo, NY, Briere confirmed that "[Drysdale] got checked after the season and there's a significant injury that he needed surgery on."

Drysdale, who joined the Flyers back in January, missed 16 games after sustaining an injury on Feb. 25 after a bad collision with the Pittsburgh Penguins' Jansen Harkins. It looked as though the collision impacted his left shoulder, which he had to have surgery on in 2022.

Briere, however, clarified that the surgery did not have anything to do with Drysdale's previous shoulder issues.

The Flyers GM did praise Drysdale's handling of the situation, saying, "He's had a lot of injuries to deal with the last few years so he wanted to play, so I give him a lot of credit. He showed a lot of character, leadership, the way he handled it."

Drysdale is expected to make a full recovery in time to take part in Flyers' training camp, and is aiming to have a fully healthy 2024-25 season.
