Highly touted Philadelphia Flyers prospect Matvei Michkov is due to land in Philadelphia tomorrow, July 23, according to a report from Kevin Kurz.
Michkov kicked up suspicion that he could be arriving stateside soon after posting a picture of himself on a plane to his Instagram story on July 22.
There has previously been no confirmation from either Michkov or the Flyers on when the young Russian forward would land in the U.S., only that he was expected to be present for the Flyers' preseason schedule in preparation for the 2024-25 season.
He missed out on the team's development camp, which was held during the first week of July, due to visa and immigration matters, according to Flyers GM Danny Briere.
Michkov was drafted seventh overall by the Flyers in 2023, but wasn't expected to be able to come to the U.S. until 2026 because of his contractual obligations with the KHL, along with rising geopolitical tensions between the U.S. and Russia.
