According to a report from SportExpress, Philadelphia Flyers top prospect Matvei Michkov could be heading to North America very soon.
According to Arthur Khairullin, SportExpress' Deputy Head of The Hockey Department, Michkov's contract with SKA St. Petersburg will be terminated until 2026. If he doesn't have a contract in the KHL, he should be able to negotiate a contract with the Flyers.
"According to SE, SKA forward Matvey Michkov will continue his career in Philadelphia," Khairullin writes.
Michkov has been in the news recently with multiple questions about whether he wants to come to North America. He was recently seen wearing Flyers gear during an offseason workout.
Briere recently appeared on a French podcast and knew this situation could lead to many different outcomes.
The Flyers are currently trying to determine whether this report is accurate. If it is, the front office's next step would be to negotiate an entry-level contract for the prospect.
