The Philadelphia Flyers begin their "Metropolitan Madness" this week with a game tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes are one point ahead of the Flyers in the standings - and are in second place in the Metropolitan Division.

So far this year the series is split between the two teams. The Hurricanes won the first game 3-2 and the Flyers took the second one 3-1.
These games they play against each other isn't the only thing these teams share:
Rod Brind'Amour.
The now head coach of the Hurricanes once played for the Flyers - and he was pretty good too.

Brind'Amour played nine seasons for the Flyers. He didn't play for the Flyers long enough to hold any team records for most games played or point related milestones. He did set career highs in a few categories while playing for them.
Brind'Amour recorded over 80 points four times in his career - three of those seasons were with the Flyers. He recorded 86, 87 & 97 points in those seasons. His fourth 80+ point season came with the Hurricanes the year after they won the Stanley Cup. He collected 82 points that season.

For his contributions to the Flyers organization he was inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame. This happened on November 23, 2015 during a game against the Hurricanes. He was an assistant coach with them at the time.
Brind'Amour is the kind of guy you can't help but root for, no matter what team he's on.
