Flyers' Trade Deadline Plans Have Not Changed

While the Flyers are having a great season, they are not changing their plan for the deadline.

Heading into the 2023-24 season, the Philadelphia Flyers were expected to be one of the worst teams in the NHL. It is understandable, as Flyers management made it clear that they were committed to rebuilding. However, at this point of the season, they have a 25-16-6 record and are second in the Metropolitan Division.

With the Flyers refusing to drop in the standings, some have wondered if their expected plan to be sellers would change and that they will instead be buyers. However, while on The Kevin Karius Show, Frank Seravalli shared that this will not be the case.

Seravalli shared that the Flyers are not looking to add to their roster for the playoffs, and their plan is to continue to be sellers. With that, he noted that they will be starting off their moves with defenseman Sean Walker.

Walker, 29, is having a nice bounce-back season with the Flyers, posting five goals, 16 points, and a plus-seven rating in 47 games thus far. Due to this and his pending UFA status, it is understandable that the Flyers are expected to test his trade market.

Two other Flyers trade candidates to watch as we get closer to the trade deadline include Nick Seeler and Morgan Frost.

Like Walker, Seeler is a pending UFA, and if they do not reach a new deal before the deadline, he could be dealt. In 47 games this season, he has seven assists and a plus-16 rating.

As for Frost, he is having a solid season, posting 20 points in his first 36 games. However, his occasional scratches have led to plenty of speculation about his trade availability for much of this campaign.

There certainly could be interest in Frost, as he is a former first-round pick who had 46 points just last season. Teams looking for help in their middle six should be calling.

We will need to wait and see what moves the Flyers make from here, but as it stands now, it will be another season of selling for Philly.
