The Philadelphia Flyers are currently second in the Metropolitan Division and fourth in the Eastern Conference. They have a 25-16-6 record - giving them 56 points in 47 games played.

What John Tortorella has done with this team is impressive. He's taken one of the youngest teams in the league - that's rebuilding - and has turned them into a playoff team.

One player who is not part of the success is Claude Giroux - who is in his second season with the Ottawa Senators. The former Flyers captain saw his offensive production drop in his last couple years with the Flyers.

The 36-year old center rebounded last season with great production. In 82 games he recorded 79 points - including a career high 35 goals. Giroux should be slowing down at this point in his career, but he's having none of that.

While he's a touch behind the pace he set last year, he's still producing well this season. His 14 goals and 25 assists for 39 total points, have him on pace to finish the season with 76 points - three shy of last year's totals. At 36-years old, this is a huge accomplishment.

To do so while the team is having a tumultuous season is equally impressive. The Senators are in last place in the Eastern Conference, two points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Senators have gone through management changes and coaching changes, but still find themselves at the bottom. Giroux has displayed great leadership by focusing on the on-ice product and doing what he can to help his team win.

With Giroux fighting Father Time like this, who knows when the end is in sight. From this vantage point, it shouldn't be any time soon.
