4 Flyers To Trade For Picks & Prospects

The Philadelphia Flyers should consider a deal for any of these players to continue moving forward with their rebuild.

The Philadelphia Flyers are sitting in a better position at the beginning of December than most analysts had predicted. The standout defensive play of the team combined with timely goals have propelled the team into their fortunate position.

The team is still rebuilding however, and older veterans could be dealt to acquire more prospects and picks to accelerate their rebuild. Let's look at who may provide value to another team while being expendable for the Flyers.

    Marc Staal

First on the list is Marc Staal. He has been a third pair defenseman all season. However his inconsistent play has resulted in John Tortorella not giving him a lot of minutes on a regular basis.

He was brought on to provide mentorship to the young Flyers defense. He understands his role and accepts it, but surely the team could find a slightly younger veteran who will play more than 12 minutes a game.

    Garnet Hathaway

Garnet Hathaway is a great forward to have on your team - he plays with an edge and is a great role player. He's definitely the type of player that the Flyers like having around.

Hathaway and Nic Deslauriers are similar players, but Deslauriers has a cheaper contract and a modified no move clause attached. If the Flyers can only keep one Hathaway may attract more interest, but it's really a toss up.

    Rasmus Ristolainen

The towering Rasmus Ristolainen has rumored to have already drawn interest from the Toronto Maple Leafs - but the defender can appeal to more than just the one team.

Ristolainen is a physical, right-handed defenseman with some offense to his game that could give 31 other teams in the NHL some extra punch on their back end.

    Sean Walker

An unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, Sean Walker is the ideal rental for a Stanley Cup playoff team. He's another right-handed defender with a great two-way game.

With 11 points in 27 games, his point production would be welcomed on any other team in the NHL.
