Thomas Salus-USA TODAY Sports - Flyers Goalie Has Huge Shootout Shutout

The Philadelphia Flyers improved to 11-9-1 after yesterday's 1-0 shootout victory over the New York Islanders. It was their second game in four days against their divisional rivals. They leapfrogged over the Carolina Hurricanes, Washington Capitals and Islanders in the standings after collecting the two points.

The only goal of the game was recorded in the shootout. Tyson Foerster scored his game winner in the fourth round of the shootout.

The real story of the game was the 25-save performance of Swedish netminder Samuel Ersson. He's the assumed backup to Carter Hart for this regular season.

So far this year he has played in eight games with a 4-3-1 record. He's sporting a 2.78 goals against average with a .881 save percentage.

As the team does better Ersson will also progress. We will see if he's up to task to be the backup for an entire season.
