The Philadelphia Flyers seem to have a serviceable tandem.

The Philadelphia Flyers have a long history of going through many goaltenders. After all, they are only four years removed from the season they set a record for most goalies to play for a single team in one season.

Carter Hart, Samuel Ersson & Travis Konecny.

In the 2018-19 season they had the following goalies start at least one game for the organization: Carter Hart, Cam Talbot, Brian Elliott, Anthony Stolarz, Calvin Pickard, Alex Lyon, Mike McKenna, and Michal Neuvirth.

Carter Hart has played about as well as pundits expected him to. The backup position was seen as shaky, with two unproven options clamoring for an opportunity.

    Carter Hart.

Cal Petersen came over along with Sean Walker in the trade that send Ivan Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets. He's only played in two games this season and has been surpassed in the organization by Samuel Ersson.

Ersson is proving himself to be a solid backup. After three shaky starts (and losses) in a row he's found his grove.

Ersson has six quality starts in a row. A quality start is a game where the goalie had a league average save percentage, or better. Additionally, he is on a four game win streak.

    Sam Ersson.

The Swedish born netminder has laid his claim to the backup role for the Flyers. He has only allowed eight goals in his past four games. The opposition has fired 117 shots in that span. That's a save percentage of .932 over the four games.

Of course, this pales in comparison to the ability Ersson displayed in the last win - with a hot glove hand against Sidney Crosby.

Things might not be all unicorns and rainbows right now for the Flyers, but the problems in net seem to have settled. Hart and Ersson have the potential to become a formidable tandem in the NHL.
