The Flyers selected Bjarnason in the second round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

It didn't take much time for one of the Philadelphia Flyers' newest additions to the prospect pipeline to ink an entry-level contract.

The Flyers signed 18-year-old goalie Carson Bjarnason to a three-year, entry-level contract, the club announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Flyers selected Bjarnason in the second round (No. 51 overall) of this year's draft. They even traded up to get him, sending a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 second-round pick to the Chicago Blackhawks in order to make the selection.

Bjarnason was ranked No. 1 on NHL Central Scouting's list of top North American goaltenders in the lead-up to the draft.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Manitoba native appeared in 47 games for the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings last season, logging a 21-19-5 record along with a .900 save percentage and 3.08 goals against average.

Bjarnason is one of several young goalies the Flyers signed to new deals this offseason. They also signed Russian netminder Alexei Kolosov to a three-year, entry-level deal in July before inking Sam Ersson to a two-year, $2.9 million contract extension in August.
