    Police have announced an arrest after the death of former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Adam Johnson.

    Police have announced an arrest after the death of former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Adam Johnson.

    The hockey world was struck with tragedy in late October when former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Adam Johnson died following an incident that occurred mid-game in the United Kingdom’s EIHL.

    The former Penguins prospect died after being cut in the throat by a skate blade while playing with the Nottingham Panthers.

    Immediately after the incident, the South Yorkshire Police opened up an investigation into the incident.

    Police recently announced that they have made an arrest in the case on suspicion of manslaughter.

    Police have not revealed the identity of the man arrested and is currently in police custody.

    The incident occurred on October 28 and South Yorkshire Police have been investigating ever since.

    In a statement from the South Yorkshire Police:

     Detective Chief Superintendent Becs Horsfall: "Our investigation launched immediately following this tragedy and we have been carrying out extensive enquiries ever since to piece together the events which led to the loss of Adam in these unprecedented circumstances. 
    We have been speaking to highly specialised experts in their field to assist in our enquiries and continue to work closely with the health and safety department at Sheffield City Council, which is supporting our ongoing investigation.
