The Pittsburgh Penguins might see a big change in their lineup with Jeff Carter likely being healthy scratched.
Fans of the Pittsburgh Penguins have been waiting a long time to see this happen, but it looks like Jeff Carter could be facing a healthy scratch from the lineup.
In the Penguins’ last practice in town before departing for the west coast, Carter skated with healthy scratch defenseman P.O. Joseph.
Normally, those who skate on the fourth defensive pairing, or rotate in and out of a forward line, are usually the scratched players.
In Carter’s place on the fourth line skated Vinnie Hinostroza who was recalled from the AHL last week.
Hinostroza impressed in the early portions of training camp and the preseason, starting off on a line with Sidney Crosby.
According to head coach Mike Sullivan, Hinostroza can bring a lot of speed and offensive instincts.
The Penguins’ fourth line of Carter, Matt Nieto, and Noel Acciari are yet to score a point this season, and a boost of offense and speed could be useful.
That group hasn’t been scored against much, but the Penguins need scoring from their depth.
Hinostroza was also taking reps on the Penguins second power play unit while Carter filtered with the penalty kill.
