The Pittsburgh Penguins will have an extra special pre-season in 2023.
A new hockey season will be here before you know it as the Pittsburgh Penguins have released their pre-season scheduled for 2023-24.
The usual suspects are sticking around as competition with games against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, and Buffalo Sabres, but the Penguins will make a special trip north of the border.
As part of the Nova Scotia Showdown, the Penguins will travel to Halifax to take on the Ottawa Senators on October 2.
Halifax is a short, 10-mile drive away from Sidney Crosby’s hometown of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.
Crosby doesn’t take part in much pre-season action, but is likely to participate in a game just minutes from where he grew up.
The Penguins open their preseason with split squad games against the Blue Jackets on September 24.
Television and radio broadcast information is yet to be released; The full pre-season schedule is listed in the tweet below.
