The Pittsburgh Penguins aren't done adding to their depth even with the season just about here.
Rosters are taking shape and players are being moved between the NHL and AHL, yet the Pittsburgh Penguins are still adding to their depth.
Ahead of the roster deadline, the Penguins have made their second waiver claim of the last week by taking defenseman John Ludvig from the Florida Panthers.
Ludvig is a 23-year-old defenseman who is yet to make a debut in the NHL; over the last three seasons he has played in 70 AHL contests.
During his time at the AHL level, Ludvig has recorded a total of 25 points.
At 23-years-old, the left-shot Czech native has a ton of room to grow in the Penguins system and could legit fight for a roster spot if injuries begin to pile up.
At the NHL level, Ludvig has a contract with two seasons remaining at $775,000.
Through the signings and claims Kyle Dubas has made in his first summer as Penguins president of hockey operations, it’s clear part of the effort is to improve the status of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
This is the second waivers claim made by the Penguins this offseason behind Jansen Harkins from the Winnipeg Jets.
Five other Penguins were also placed on waivers yesterday and every one has cleared.
