John Ludvig is one step closer to returning to the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup.

Pittsburgh Penguins' defenseman Erik Karlsson discusses his growing chemistry with Sidney Crosby in their first season together.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are entering their Thanksgiving Eve matchup against the New York Rangers with a battered lineup, but at least one player could make a return.

Prior to puck drop, the Penguins have announced that rookie defenseman John Ludvig has been elevated from long-term injured reserve.

Ludvig suffered a concussion in his first ever NHL game and has been absent ever since.

The Penguins sent Ludvig to the AHL on a conditioning stint where he played a pair of games and seems ready for a return.

Head coach Mike Sullivan slated Ludvig as a game-time decision, but so was much of the rest of the lineup.

While Ludvig might be coming back to the lineup, his spot isn’t a guarantee; the Penguins recently signed Dmitri Samorukov to an NHL contract after starting the season in the AHL.

Samorukov joined the Penguins at their morning skate and is listed on the roster on the NHL media site.
