Pittsburgh Penguins' forward Jeff Carter might miss more time due to an upper-body injury.

The Pittsburgh Penguins recently handed veteran forward Jeff Carter the first healthy scratches of his 19-year career early in the California road trip.

Carter slotted back into the Penguins lineup against his former team in the Los Angeles Kings, but has been off the ice pretty much ever since.

Ahead of the matchup against the Buffalo Sabres, Carter participated in the morning skate, but was been absent ever since.

Carter missed the game and the following practice ahead of the Penguins departure for Columbus.

Following the practice, head coach Mike Sullivan stated that Carter has been dealing with an upper-body injury.

“Carts is dealing with an upper-body injury so we chose to hold him off of the ice today.”

No subsequent move or adjustment has been made regarding Carter’s spot on the roster.

Vinnie Hinostroza was recalled prior to the game against the Sabres, and he remained present during practice.

Defenseman John Ludvig also returned to skating with the team and Sullivan said they are encouraged by his progress.
