A couple of roster moves were announced by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have made a couple of roster maneuvers prior to their second contest against the Philadelphia Flyers.
After missing last game with a lower-body injury, the Penguins have moved Matt Nieto the injured reserve and recalled Alex Nylander to fill the open roster spot.
Nieto and Noel Acciari were both injured for the first game against the Flyers, but head coach Mike Sullivan last stated that they were still being evaluated for lower-body injuries.
This move for Nieto means he is clearly going to miss some time, while Acciari may be good to go in Philadelphia.
As for Nylander, his recall doesn’t automatically mean he will enter the lineup; he was healthy scratched the last time he was at the NHL level after three games in the lineup.
Nylander played on the second line and failed to record a point.
Nieto has played in 22 games this season with a goal and four assists; Acciari has scored two goals and an assist in 22 games.
