    Penguins Forward Returns to Practice

The Pittsburgh Penguins might have Noel Acciari back a lot quicker than expected.

The Pittsburgh Penguins power play is ranked 11th in the NHL since early December.

PITTSBURGH – Noel Acciari was a late scratch from the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup against the Carolina Hurricanes. Following the loss, Penguins’ head coach Mike Sullivan labeled Acciari as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

The following day, the Penguins held a team practice that Acciari was a full participant in. It was a quick skate, but Acciari appeared to be a full-contact participant.

Acciari also appeared to take line rushes with his usual linemates on the fourth line with Jeff Carter and Jansen Harkins.

In the Penguins loss to the Vancouver Canucks, both Acciari and Reilly Smith were hampered with injuries, but Smith did not finish the contest. Acciari took a skate by himself the following day and was originally announced to be in the lineup against the Hurricanes.

Colin White was recalled from the American Hockey League to fill a possible roster spot being opened by Smith, and he eventually took the fourth line center role.

It is not yet clear if Acciari will miss another game due to his injury.
