The Pittsburgh Penguins have sent Vinnie Hinostroza back to the AHL roster.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have sent Vinnie Hinostroza back to the AHL roster.

In the wake of goalie Tristan Jarry’s injury, the Pittsburgh Penguins have officially recalled Joel Blomqvist to the NHL roster.

John Ludvig was also officially moved to the Penguins injured reserve, but there was one more transaction that the team made official.

Forward Vinnie Hinostroza was re-assigned to the AHL roster after a pair of games at the NHL level.

In those two games, Hinostroza entered the lineup in place of Jeff Carter who was a healthy scratch for the first time in his career.

Carter took the removal from the lineup in stride, and Hinostroza performed really well in his two game stint.

A goal and an assist in Hinostrza’s season debut seemed to seal his fate in the lineup for the long run.

However, there may be reason for Carter to slot back into this game in particular.

Carter is likely in the final year of his NHL career and the next stop could very well be the Hall of Fame.

The Penguins are set to take on the Los Angeles Kings, the team Carter won a pair of Stanley Cup championships and was an integral leader in those runs.

This could very well be just a final goodbye for Carter in a city he found incredible success in.

We’ll have to wait and see if the re-assignment lasts for Hinostroza, because he seems to be a more useful option.
