Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang are one of the most dynamic duos in Pittsburgh Penguins and NHL history.

One of the more impressive goals from the Pittsburgh Penguins 10-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks was the connection between Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang.

Crosby carried the puck into the zone on a partial break, but before taking a shot, he dropped it for Letang who buried the goal to give the Penguins a 6-1 lead.

While the goal showed the skill and chemistry between the two, it also moved them up in NHL history.

Letang’s tally marked the 290th time he and Crosby combined for a goal; only two forward and defenseman duos have recorded more.

Wayne Gretzky and Paul Coffey combined for 350 goals and Phil Esposito and Bobby Orr got together for 306.

With five years remaining on Letang’s contract, there is still plenty of time to add on their 290 goals and chase down some of the game’s all-time greats.

“We should have a little bit of chemistry after playing a few years together,” Crosby said in year 18 with Letang.

Crosby also spoke highly of Letang’s finishing ability, even for a defenseman; in his career, Letang has scored a total of 157 goals.

Tack on 540 assists, and Letang is nearing 700 total points, just three shy at 697.

Crosby over a clean 1,200 games played sits with 555 goals, 958 assists, and 1,513 points.

The trio of Crosby, Malkin, and Letang are already one of the most decorated and successful trios in all of North American sports, but the two Canadians continue to add to their own special legacy.
