The Pittsburgh Penguins are terminating the contract of recently signed forward Andreas Johnsson.
Heading into Pittsburgh Penguins training camp, there was a lot of high hopes for free agent signing Andreas Johnsson.
Those hopes have been completely dashed, however, as the Penguins have placed Johnsson on unconditional waivers with the purpose of contract termination.
Johnsson failed to impress the front office during training camp and preseason and started the season with on the AHL roster.
Despite being listed on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins roster, Johnsson never slotted into the lineup for a game.
According to Tony Androckitis, Johnsson appeared in a preseason game but was then away from the team to deal with a ‘personal matter.’
Johnsson left at the beginning of the AHL regular season and hasn’t been back since.
In 259 career NHL games played, Johnsson has scored 48 goals and 68 assists for 116 total points and played with the Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, and San Jose Sharks.
