After leaving the ice mid-game, the Pittsburgh Penguins say Tristan Jarry is still being evaluated.
In the midst of a good game, making 21 saves on 21 shots, Pittsburgh Penguins starting goalie Tristan Jarry left the contest early after suffering an apparent upper-body/head injury.
It’s not exactly clear what forced Jarry out of the game, but the Penguins netminder took a couple of shots to the head in quick succession.
Jarry was clipped by Anaheim Ducks forward Adam Henrique causing Jarry’s head and neck to snap in an awkward way.
The contact forced Jarry’s mask loose before a shot looked to strike him in the head area.
Jarry got up and immediately skated off the ice to the locker room with visible bleeding.
Following the contest, head coach Mike Sullivan stated that he had no further updates on Jarry other than he is still being evaluated.
Magnus Hellberg was forced into the contest and helped cap off the shutout with 11 saves of his own.
The Penguins took a 2-0 win and Jarry and Hellberg teamed up for just the fifth combined shutout in franchise history.
