Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry has left the contest early with an apparent injury.
In the late stages of the second period against the Anaheim Ducks, Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry left the game with an apparent upper-body injury.
Jarry was stretching trying to make a save when Adam Henrique’s hip caught the Penguins netminder’s head and neck area.
Jarry’s head snapped around and forced his mask loose before a shot was taken; the shot seemed to hit Jarry in the head area.
After the play was blown dead, Jarry immediately skated off the ice and to the locker room.
Backup goalie Magnus Hellberg quickly threw on his glove, blocker, and helmet to finish the second frame.
Following the second intermission, Hellberg led the Penguins onto the ice for the third period.
Jarry faced 21 shots in his two periods of action and stopped each one, holding the Penguins to a 1-0 lead.
This is only Hellberg’s second appearance in a Penguins uniform.
Jarry's official status is unclear and will likely remain uncertain for the remainder of the night.
