The Pittsburgh Penguins were dominated by the Toronto Maple Leafs and their fans let their former GM know about it.
Kyle Dubas was back in Toronto for the first time after joining the Pittsburgh Penguins as president of hockey operations and general manager, and it went about as bad as one could think.
The Penguins lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs by a score of 7-0, sealing the biggest shutout loss in Sidney Crosby’s career.
Not only was the blowout los bad, but the Toronto faithful added a little insult to injury.
Fans at Scotiabank Arena began jeering their former general manager with some minor “Dubas” chants.
It wasn’t overly noticeable or long lasting, but fans of the Maple Leafs still feel scorned by Dubas, after he said it was Toronto or nothing for regarding his future.
Not long after making that statement, Dubas was fired by Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan.
Dubas has been taking heat nonstop from Toronto fans and media ever since he went back on his word to join the Penguins, but getting unexpectedly fired can force people to change their minds.
Not only that, but Dubas built a vast majority of the roster that laid that beatdown against the Penguins.
In the first meeting this season between the Penguins and Maple Leafs, Dubas has signed or acquired 32 players combined between the two team’s active rosters.
