The Pittsburgh Penguins will see more than just the three recent firings as Kyle Dubas builds his team both on and off the ice.
Kyle Dubas has been president of hockey operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins for just a couple of days and he has already carried out a first order of business.
Insiders confirmed that Dubas relieved three people of their duties with the Penguins; those included Alec Schall, Teena Murray, and Kerry Huffman.
All three were hires made by Ron Hextall and according to Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast, more moves might be on the way.
Friedman said there will be more if they haven’t already happened.
Dubas enters the Penguins organization and is tasked with building a team in his image; if that means sweeping changes to the front office, that’s his right.
Any time new ownership, or new head of management arrives, it’s up to them to make the changes they see fit.
What this does do, however, is open the door for Dubas to bring a few names from his former team in the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Friedman thinks Dubas wanted to bring Brandon Pridham with him, but the Maple Leafs blocked that.
