Sidney Crosby has been one of the faces of the league since joining the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Ever since he broke into the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2005, Sidney Crosby has been one of the faces of hockey.

Crosby’s elite level of skill and production matched by living up to the expectations has not only brought great success to the Penguins, but helped inspire a generation of kids of play hockey.

It’s players like Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, and Connor McDavid that do so much to grow the game by just being the best and another generational talent might be on his way.

The 2023 NHL Draft Lottery has been looked at as the ‘Connor Bedard Sweepstakes,’ and for good reason.

Bedard has been watched closely over the past few years at the WHL level, and he’s expected to change the course of a franchise.

This past season, Bedard scored 71 goals and 72 assists for 143 points in just 57 games; at the World Junior Championship for Team Canada he scored 23 points (9G-14A) in seven games.

Ahead of the Draft Lottery, Bedard said that Crosby has always been his inspiration in the sport of hockey.

Bedard told Kevin Weekes of ESPN before the draft order was revealed that it’s more than just Crosby’s on-ice magic.

The way Crosby carried himself off the ice with the amount of pressure that has always been on him stood out to Bedard.

For those that want to feel old, Bedard was just three months old when Crosby made his NHL debut.

The Penguins may not have landed Bedard, but they are lucky that they will only have to face him twice a season.

The Chicago Blackhawks won the lottery and will have the opportunity to take Bedard first overall.

The Penguins stuck with their 14th spot in the draft order.
