Despite missing the morning skate, Jason Zucker will be in the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup.
PITTSBURGH - Prior to their match with the Washington Capitals, the Pittsburgh Penguins held a full-team morning skate.
The Penguins are a team full of injuries at the moment and it was noticeable that Jason Zucker was absent from the skate.
AHL recall Alex Nylander skated in Zucker’s spot and said he wasn’t sure of Zucker’s status, but was staying ready.
Nylander sounded confident that Zucker would be good to go.
“We’ll see what happens with Jason,” Nylander said. “We don’t know yet. He is looking better than we all thought.”
Despite Nylander staying ready to go, head coach Mike Sullivan said that Zucker will be in the lineup.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary for Zucker during the Penguins last game against the Dallas Stars, but he was listed as a game-time decision prior to puck drop.
According to Sullivan, Casey DeSmith is the Penguins’ starting goalie against the Capitals and the backup will be a game-time decision as all three goalies were present at the morning skate.
Defenseman Jeff Petry was a full participant in the skate but will not file back into the lineup.
