Veteran players may see new positions heading into the 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins season.
It’s still too early to start drawing conclusions on official lineups, but the opening day of Pittsburgh Penguins training camp featured a couple of changes and surpises.
Among them was Vinnie Hinostroza taking cuts alongside Sidney Crosby on the Penguins’ first line, but the depth forward group is sure to be full of competition.
One big move that was made right away for the depth forwards was veteran Jeff Carter’s shift to the wing.
After struggling for much of the 2022-23 season at center, it looks like Carter will make the transition to the wing this year.
As part of the third group on the opening day of camp, Carter was lined up with newcomers Noel Acciari and Matt Nieto.
Acciari was the face settling in at the center position.
Filling out the depth forwards as a line was Lars Eller centering Drew O’Connor and Rickard Rakell.
It's only the first day of camp and plenty of time to make adjustments, but so far there have been some notable adjustments.
