The Pittsburgh Penguins missed a couple of defensemen from practice in New York.

Following the Pittsburgh Penguins tough loss to the New York Rangers, multiple defensemen were missing from a full-team practice.

Jeff Petry and Kris Letang were both absent from the Penguins’ skate in New York.

Head coach Mike Sullivan stated that Letang’s absence was to give him a maintenance day off, while Petry is still being evaluated for an injury.

Petry was an early exit in two consecutive games but his injury against the Rangers was a little more obvious.

In the first period, Petry took an elbow to the face from Rangers’ forward Tyler Motte and he did not return.

Prior to the game at Madison Square Garden, Petry did not return for the third period against the Montreal Canadiens.

Sullivan stated after the loss to the Canadiens that Petry was being evaluated.

Newcomer Dmitry Kulikov is already on long-term injured and the Penguins might be losing another defenseman.
