Mark Friedman was fined for embellishment following the last Pittsburgh Penguins victory.
PITTSBURGH - The NHL has fined Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Mark Friedman for embellishment against the Philadelphia Flyers.
According to the NHL, Friedman embellished a slash from Travis Konecny in the third period of the Penguins victory.
The fine will take $2,000 from Friedman and was automatically triggered thanks to a previous warning against the Detroit Red Wings.
The NHL states that Friedman violated Rule 64 which is focused on penalizing players who repeatedly dive and embellish.
The Penguins were going to get a power play from the Konecny slash, but before the play could be blown dead, Ryan Poehling took a delay of game penalty.
They didn’t score on the ensuing 4-on-4 scenario, but the Penguins did walk away as the winners by a score of 4-2.
Friedman has played in 21 games this season and has recorded a goal and two assists for three points.
