Fenway Sports Group might be nearing the end of their general manager search for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Pittsburgh Penguins seem to be nearing the end of their search for new faces in the front office and could have hires made before the week is out.
According to Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast, the Penguins are entering a ‘big week’ and are looking for some clarity.
“This could be a big week for the Penguins,” Friedman said. “They at least want to hire the person at the top of the food chain. I think they are going to try and get some clarity on that this week.”
Friedman stated previously that Fenway Sports Group (FSG) was willing to wait for the right candidate, but didn’t want to wait too long.
A round of interviews has come and gone for the Penguins with names like Jason Botterill, Marc Bergevin, and John Chayka as headliner names.
It’s also assumed that the ‘person at the top of the food chain’ is Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas.
Since the Maple Leafs have been dispatched from the playoffs, the timing might be lining up perfectly for FSG to make their move on the hottest name in GM searches.
The wait is almost over and no matter who FSG and the Penguins decide to step in, the names could be made as soon as this week.
