Only 37 names remain on the Pittsburgh Penguins roster after a full week of training camp.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are deep into their training camp and gearing up for the 2023-24 NHL season.
With a new year approaching quickly, the Penguins continue to trim the fat of their roster and have re-assigned nine names to their AHL affiliate the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Among the nine players sent to WBS are prospects Isaac Belliveau and Joel Blomqvist.
The 2023-24 season will be both of their first full years at the AHL level; Belliveau set to make his debut and Blomqvist fighting for a regular role with the team.
The remainder of the list consists of forwards Corey Andonovski, Avery Hayes, Marc Johnstone, Austin Rueschhoff, and defensemen Justin Lee, Dmitry Samorukov, and Jack St. Ivany.
Before the announcement of these re-assignments, it was reported that five other Penguins skaters were placed on waivers.
Ty Smith, Rem Pitlick, Taylor Fedun, Jonathan Gruden, and Xavier Ouellet were those placed on waivers.
There are 37 names remaining on the Penguins training camp roster and more cuts could be right around the corner.
