The Pittsburgh Penguins are likely looking to hire a general manager and president of hockey operations.

The Pittsburgh Penguins’ 2022-23 season has been over for almost a month at this point and Fenway Sports Group (FSG) is still searching for a new general manager.

As it turns out, however, FSG is probably looking for more than just a new general manager for the Penguins.

According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, FSG is aiming to have a similar front office structure as the previous regime.

That would include not just the hiring of a general manager, but a separate person as the president of hockey operations.

Following the end of the Penguins’ season, FSG relieved Ron Hextall, Brian Burke, and Chris Pryor of their duties, opening up positions for GM, president of hockey ops, and assistant general manager.

One of the biggest questions regarding the front office search centered around if FSG would give one person the keys to the castle and title them as president/GM.

If Seravalli’s thoughts hold true, the Penguins will see multiple hires for multiple front office positions.

In the same segment, Seravalli mentioned that the Penguins are close to finishing an initial round of interviews for multiple front office positions.

Among the names he believes have been involved include Marc Bergevin, Jason Botterill, and John Chayka among others.
