Only one member of the Pittsburgh Penguins will take home a medal from the World Championship tournament.
The 2023 IIHF World Championship has come to a close and Team Canada walked away with their 28th gold medal.
The Pittsburgh Penguins had representation on seven different teams in the tournament, but only one helped claim a medal.
Defenseman P.O. Joseph was the lone Penguins to win not just any medal, but gold with Team Canada.
Team USA had three Penguins on the roster, but they lost to Latvia in overtime to finish in fourth, just off of the medal stand.
In 10 games played, Joseph recorded a single goal and was a plus-six on the Canadian blue line.
Casey DeSmith, Drew O’Connor, and Nick Bonino all represented Team USA at the tournament.
Alex Nylander (Sweden), Justin Addamo (France), and Thimo Nickl (Austria) were the other Penguins’ or organizational prospects that participated.
