The Pittsburgh Penguins captain offered kind words to the Pirates' great on his achievement.

The Pittsburgh sports world showed out in celebration of Andrew McCutchen's 2000th hit. The Pirates' outfielder became the fifth active and 291st all-time MLB player to achieve the milestone, after recording a hit in his first at bat against the New York Mets on Sunday. In honor of the incredible accomplishment, several Pittsburgh sports icons took part in a brief video message.

After recording his 2000th hit, the Pittsburgh Pirates played the congratulatory video for Cutch, which started off with some kind words from Pittsburgh Steelers great, Ben Roethlisberger.

"What an amazing accomplishment," Roethlisberger stated. "Just proof of your hard work and dedication to your craft," he continued.

Then the Penguins' captain got involved. "I've always admired the way that you compete and work over the years," Crosby said. After harping some more praise onto McCutchen, he also wished him a fun night of celebration, something Crosby is all too familiar with.

Joining Sidney Crosby and Ben Roethlisberger was former Pirate and teammate of McCutchen's, Neil Walker. The three Pittsburgh sports idols all shared love for the one of the greatest Pittsburgh Pirates of all time, and showed how close the Pittsburgh sports community is.
