The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed a sizable young forward with not much NHL experience.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have made their second signing of the free agency period with a young, inexperienced forward.
According to PuckPedia, the Penguins have signed forward Joona Koppanen to a two-year deal worth $775,000.
PuckPedia notes that there is a split in the contract when it comes to minors salary; in year one, Koppanen will earn $445,000 in the AHL but the full $755,000 in the second year.
Koppanen is a 25-year-old left winger who has five games of NHL experience to his name with the Boston Bruins.
In those five games, he has only recorded one assist with a pair of shots on goal.
Koppanen is a big bodied forward who stands at 6-foot-5, and 192 pounds and was drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Bruins.
