The Pittsburgh Penguins added a number of names to their depth on the opening day of free agency.

Kyle Dubas was busy on his first day of free agency as the president of hockey operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

After making a multitude of signings, it was announced that the Penguins signed Lars Eller to a two-year contract worth $2.45 million annually.

Eller is a 34-year-old Denmark native who helps bolster the Penguins depth at forward, especially within the center position.

Dubas said that Ellar has an obvious great relationship with associate coach Todd Reirden and is willing to play the role as a depth forward.

Thanks to a trade from the Washington Capitals to the Colorado Avalanche near the trade deadline, Eller played in 84 games during the 2022-23 season.

In those 84 games, he scored 23 total points (10G-13A) while just under 15 minutes of ice time per night.

Eller was also part of the Capitals team that won the Stanley Cup in 2018.

The free agency period is not over, but the Penguins added a ton of faces in the first few hours.
