After a few hours of waiting, the Pittsburgh Penguins have hit the ground running with multiple huge contract signings on the first day of free agency.
Not long after announcing their extension of goalie Tristan Jarry, the announced the signing of defenseman Ryan Graves.
The deal with the 28-year-old Graves runs for six seasons worth $4.5 million annually.
Graves has made a name for himself as one of the best younger two-way defenders in the NHL with the New Jersey Devils.
In 78 games with the Devils this past season, Graves recorded eight goals and 18 assists for 26 points and was a plus-34.
The skill that Graves brings should put him right next to Kris Letang on the top line of the Penguins’ defense.
