The Pittsburgh Penguins made a major move in net. After weeks of uncertainty, the Pens have signed goaltender Tristan Jarry to a five year contract.
The deal runs through the 2027-2028 season and carries an annual cap hit of $5.375 million.
Originally a second round draft pick during the 2013 NHL Draft, Jarry has spent his entire career with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. He spent parts of four seasons playing for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL before joining the Pens at the NHL level.
Tristan Jarry had an up and down 2022-2023 season, and many thought the team might move on from him. He started 47 games, winning 24 of them, but battled injuries and inconsistencies throughout the year. Despite the shaky season, Kyle Dubas and company are committing to Jarry for both the short and long term.
Jarry, age 28, is entering his fifth full time season with the Penguins. In his career with the Pens he's played 206 games, posting a record of 117-60-20. He has a career goals against average of 2.65 and save percentage of .914%.
