    Will Butcher will join the Pittsburgh Penguins to add depth to their blue line.

    The Pittsburgh Penguins are continuing to bolster their defensive depth as the long run of the offseason begin to take shape.

    Kyle Dubas has added to the Penguins’ depth by signing defenseman Will Butcher to a one-year deal.

    The contract will earn Butcher $775,000 at the NHL level with a salary of $425,000 in the minors.

    Butcher is a 28-year-old 5-foot-10 left-shot defender who has played in 275 career games and recorded 114 total points.

    His best years came in his first two seasons with the New Jersey Devils when he recorded 44 and 30 points respectively.

    Butcher was chosen for the NHL’s All Rookie team for the 2017-18 season.

    During the 2022-23 season, Butcher played 37 games with the Buffalo Sabres and recorded eight points.
