The Pittsburgh Penguins dealt Teddy Bluger to the Vegas Golden Knights but the details are getting murky.
Just prior to this past NHL trade deadline, the Pittsburgh Penguins dealt forward Teddy Blueger to the Vegas Golden Knights.
On the surface the trade seemed innocent enough; the Penguins needed salary cap space and dealing Blueger would save a couple million dollars.
A report came out in the Athletic that Blueger learned of his departure through social media at a team dinner.
It was the annual Dad’s Trip and Penguins’ captain Sidney Crosby rushed to keep Blueger and his father around for the remainder of the dinner.
According to Taylor Haase of DK Pittsburgh Sports, Blueger refutes the Athletic’s reporting, saying he was told of the trade prior to the dinner.
Blueger states that then president of hockey operations Brian Burke and head coach Mike Sullivan who informed he and his father of the trade.
In his first interview after arriving in Vegas, Blueger stated that he was surprised by the move.
Blueger and the Golden Knights are a win away from reaching the Stanley Cup final for the second time in the franchise’s six-year history.
